ACRE will reopen trails its properties in the Larrimac corridor and the Forêt aux étangs to cycling.
After having its insurance for cycling cancelled, ACRE was forced to close its trails to cyclists. After a long search, we are pleased to announce we have been able to find a new insurer. We are now working through the insurer’s requirements to meet Vélo Quebec standards, which require some trail work and the provision of appropriate trail maps. ACRE’s stewardship committees and the members of the cycling community have completed the initial assessment. We aim to have this work complete in the next few months and reopen the trails to cycling in the fall.
ACREs trails are aimed to allow people to enjoy nature, consistent with nature conservation. They allow connection between communities. Because ACRE’s properties are small and have no parking or washrooms, they are meant for local use and not as regional recreation destinations.
