Dear Friend of ACRE,

I want to start by expressing my deep gratitude for your generous support. The Gatineau Hills will be greener and more protected thanks to you!

ACRE’s capacity is stretched. Every organization to remain strong, needs some general, core funds to ‘keep the lights on’. That’s why we are launching the Nature Champions Monthly Donor Club and inviting you to join. ACRE has lifted above our weight for many years, acquiring and stewarding local properties for conservation and enjoyment. Monthly donations give us the certainty to invest in staff, volunteer needs, and additional conservation land. This is one of the strongest ways you can help us! To add to the impact of this call to action, two very generous anonymous donors will match every donation we receive from this campaign up to $100,000! This DOUBLES the impact and value of every gift!

Our successes protecting special places in Chelsea, La Pêche, and Pontiac is entirely due to our hundreds of supporters! Since 2020, we have raised over $4,000,000 to protect over 350 acres and 10 ecologically sensitive areas. In addition, 3 landowners have graciously donated their land as eco-gifts. What a beautiful way to protect nature for future generations!
ACRE is carrying that momentum into 2025. We’re moving forward on 11 new land acquisitions, one that we will announce very soon. Together, we are part of the global campaign to protect 30% of Canada by 2030!

Last year, donors enabled us to hire Valeria Kuzivanova as our first full-time Program Manager. Her leadership has greatly boosted our capacity, managing programs, moving acquisitions forward and supporting our dedicated volunteers who contribute thousands of hours of their time and talents.

Donors and volunteers are helping restore pollinator habitat at Place Eco Rubin and the Hundred Acre Wood and have planted endangered butternut and elm trees in our forests. The stewardship committee volunteers are caring for our lands, so you can enjoy nature close to home, forever. The cycling committee is also working to find a solution to the biking usage on the Forêt aux étangs and Larrimac forest trails. Together, we are improving trail access while protecting the environment.

Let’s end 2024 on a high note and set up even stronger for next year.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Stephen Woodley, ACRE President

PS Will you become one of our first 100 monthly donors? Consider giving up a couple of lattes per month for nature? You can also make a donation in someone’s name; it makes a great gift. ;-) Photo credit: Michel Leger
